My introduction to the car wash and auto detailing industry began after high school when I started working at a gas station that included a car wash. I was promoted to general manger in that company, which had nine other car washes. I spent 17 years with them, learned an enormous amount about car washes, and eventually out grew that position.
Several years later, Carroll Fuel called to offer me a position as a territory representative at High and Caroll Independent Fuel, LLC. They wanted to take advantage of my experience in car washes to start acquiring and building car washes to expand operations. Currently, we have 11 car washes featuring a variety of equipment.
Carroll Fuel is a niche player in the convenience store marketplace, with a concentration of gas and convenience store locations in eastern Maryland. We operate under the name High’s since our company acquired High’s of Baltimore, which had four locations with car washes. Each of those stores feature Coleman Hanna Fastrak car washes, and that’s how we were introduced to Howco via their installation of High’s equipment. High’s was one of the first companies to install that particular in-bay automatic [Fastrak]. Additionally, we are currently a trial site for Howco’s new offering of a line of Ver-tech Chemicals.
Our partnership with Howco is fantastic. Our rep, Tim Fitzpatrick and technician, Larry Cordetsky is responsive within minutes to our needs.
We will continue growing geographic footprint with our car wash locations, and expansion into building express exterior car wash tunnels. Howco is certainly a member of our growth team we have assembled with several fine companies.
